Who am I and what do I offer? – My name is Albert Hoffmann, I was born in Prague in the year 1967, but most of my life I was living in Switzerland, where I studied philosophy at the University of Zürich. Now I’m living in Prague again and I can offer you different services in the field of philosophy: philosophical counselling, philosophical discussions, joint reading of philosophical texts, private philosophy lessons etc. I am a member of the International Society for Philosophical Practice (IGPP) and one of the founders of the Zürich Institute for Philosophical Practice (ZIPPRA).

Why philosophy, why “Sophonautik”? – Philosophy enables you to see your life and your own thinking from a new perspective. It opens your horizon, connects you with the depth of a millennial tradition , helps you to reflect your own worldview and gives you back a sense of wonder. As philosophy today is a science amongst other sciences, studied in schools and at universities, I ‘ve invented the word “Sophonautik” to express with this maritime, nautical metaphor the adventurous, uncertain, deep and open character of philosophy.

Where, when and under which conditions do I work? – I meet you in my salon in the center of Prague (Kozí 918/1, 110 00 Praha 1), or I come to your place (house, hotel, office…), or we meet at a place of your choice ( coffee shop, restaurant, museum, park…) in the city. I work from Monday till Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. My rates are 1000 CZK for one hour, 1500 CZK for two hours. Whenever possible, I would meet you first in a coffee shop without charging anything, without any further obligations, just to see, if there is something in my offer which appeals to you. Or, if you want to experience something for free, without any further obligation, join me the first Friday of the month from 17:15 to 18:45 at the Café Millème for an international café-philo in English or every first Saturday of the month from 15:30 to 17:30 at the KAVÁRNA ŘEHOŘE SAMSY (Pasáž Lucerna, Vodičkova 30, 110 00 Praha – Nové Město) . We sit together and discuss a topic chosen on the spot. Everybody who likes to think and exchange arguments is very welcome!
